People

  • Joy studied architecture at the Liverpool University School of Architecture, UK and National University of Singapore. She worked with Iversen Van Sitteren Architects before establishing Designshop. She also holds an MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution from King’s College London, and serves as an accredited adjudicator of the Singapore Mediation Centre since 2005. She has lectured and tutored locally on architectural practice and contracts at The Architects Academy (SIA) and National University of Singapore.

    Joy has an extensive portfolio of more than 30 years of design experience. Her clientele includes high-profile and high net-worth individuals. She is known for careful detailing and close supervision of site work with a formidable reputation for managing disputes and delivering projects on time and within budget.

  • Samuel studied architecture at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and worked at MKPL Architects and Architects 61 before joining Designshop in 2010. With experience in a wide range of projects, from residential, institutional, commercial and masterplan developments, he plays a key role in diversifying the firm's portfolio and ambitions.

    In addition to practice, he is a member of the Singapore Institute of Architects and served in the Design Committee from 2007 to 2009, and Small-Medium Architectural Practice committee in 2019. He has actively mentored architectural graduates as part of the SIA Young Architects League Mentorship programme since its inception in 2021, and has been a guest design critic at the School of Design & Engineering (NUS).
