The client holds a special place among Designshop's first clients. In 1990, Designshop designed and completed a Good Class Bungalow (GCB) for him, where he and his family resided for a remarkable 30 years. With their children having grown and established their own lives, the client made the thoughtful decision to downsize and embrace the joys of high-rise living during their autumn years.

The penthouse comprises two floors, with the upper floor featuring a swimming pool, pool deck, and barbecue area. The primary objective was to install a lift, providing easier accessibility, and to rejuvenate the ten-year-old apartment with age-friendly design considerations.

The installation of the lift presented a challenge as it required redesigning the existing staircase to accommodate the new addition while preserving ample usable floor area. Seizing the opportunity, Designshop reimagined the spaces to enhance flow and create a captivating impact upon entering the unit. The dining area was envisioned as the heart of the home, where family and friends could gather and enjoy each other's company. The client's wife, an exceptional cook, treated the Designshop team to numerous meals there once the project was completed.

Another significant area was the master bedroom suite, situated at one end of the apartment and separated from the other rooms by the living and dining areas. The original expansive master bathroom underwent reconfiguration to allocate space for a dressing area. The bath was replaced with a shower cubicle, considering accessibility requirements if the need arises. The new dressing area seamlessly connects the master bath to the closet, which now boasts custom wardrobes tailored to suit the users' needs.

The selected material palette juxtaposes light colors and strong tones, creating an appealing contrast. The addition of LED lighting not only complements the color scheme but also adds warmth to the overall ambiance.

This newly transformed home is designed to provide comfort and longevity for the couple, ensuring it remains their haven for many decades to come.
